Who is Robert Beaton

Robert Beaton LLB, B Arch, Bsc (Arch), RAIA, ANZIIF Robert spent 34 years of his working life in insurance and re-insurance directly involved in Professional Risks insurance including PI/Malpractice, Infrastructure Alliance covers, Defamation, D&O, Management Liability, EPL, Association Liability and associated and related Claims Made policy covers. Prior to commencing his insurance career, Robert worked in architectural practices for eight years and was recruited to insurance to manage building related PI claims, especially involving architects. While completing his law degree, Robert became increasingly involved in liability risk assessment, underwriting and drafting of policy wordings. During the 90s, Robert managed branch and regional operations of a successful PI Underwriting agency and subsequently became the Product & Underwriting Manager for CGU Professional Risks. Between 2003 and 2010, Robert was the chairman of the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) PI Standing committee. He sat on the APRA National Claims & Policies Database Steering Group Committee at the time it was set up and in 2011, Robert received the inaugural Frank Earl Award from the Australian Professional Indemnity Group (APIG). Robert has been since 2005 and is currently a Counselor on the Professional Standards Council.
